Your Role

Taking on the role of a Trapped-Ion Development Engineer, you'll join a passionate, international team dedicated to making quantum computing a reality. As such, you will be driving the development of cutting-edge ion trap chips, advancing their integration into quantum processing units.

Key responsibilities in your new role:

• Characterize ion trap devices at cryogenic temperatures and ultra-high vacuum with the aid of stabilized laser systems
• Design, develop and deploy hardware and software for operating and testing surface ion traps with the goal of fully automatized experiments
• Author technical reports and publications in close collaborations with internal and external partners
• Supervise and mentor Master and PhD students
  

Your Profile

Qualifications and skills to help you succeed:

• PhD in physics, quantum engineering, electrical engineering or similar
• 3+ years of hands‑on experience in ion trapping or quantum optics
• Extensive experience in electronics, programming, lasers, and optics
• High level of motivation, striving for quantum computing to become a reality
• Fluency in English, German skills or the willingness to learn is a plus

We offer competitive salaries and additional benefits based on your performance, experience and qualification. The employment is in accordance with the collective salary and wage agreement for employees of the electrical and electronics industry, employment group G (https://www.feei.at/aktuelles/mindestloehne-und-gehaelter-eei/). The monthly salary is paid 14 times p.a. We offer a higher compensation depending on your expertise and skills.
