Data Architect (f/m/x)
BI & Data Warehouse - Vienna, Vienna (Hybride)
Your Mission
- Architect the Hybrid Cloud: Design and evolve our data architecture, bridging our existing Azure Data Lake (ADLSv2) and Synapse environment with Google BigQuery to create a unified source of truth.
- Orchestrate Data Flows: Build and maintain high-performance Data Pipelines using Synapse Pipelines, ensuring seamless data movement between various business systems and our cloud warehouses.
- Master Transformations: Lead the logic for data transformation layers, turning raw operational data into high-value "Gold" tables for business consumption.
- Drive Data Consumption: Collaborate with BI and product teams to ensure data is easily consumable, optimized for performance, and ready for advanced analytics.
- Governance & Scalability: Establish best practices for data modeling, security, and cost-management across both Azure and GCP environments.
- Leading our scaling efforts: by collaborating with and guiding external delivery teams.
Your Skills
- Cloud Architecture Expert: Extensive experience in Azure Data Lake and Synapse Analytics. BigQuery Native: Hands-on experience with Google BigQuery (modeling, slot management, and optimization) is essential.
- Pipeline Pro: Strong proficiency in Azure Synapse Pipelines.
- Technical Stack: Advanced SQL skills and experience with transformation tools
- Strategic Thinker: Ability to design "big picture" architecture while remaining hands-on with data modeling and troubleshooting.
- Azure Track Record: Proven experience in designing and maintaining production-grade data platforms on Azure (Synapse, Data Lake, Data Factory). You have seen what works and what doesn't at scale.
- Strategic Experience: You have successfully led technical initiatives or designed data models (e.g., Data Vault, Star Schema/Kimball) that served multiple business domains.
- Partner Collaboration: Experience in collaborating with or steering external implementation partners/agencies is a strong plus. You know how to translate business requirements into technical tickets for external teams.
- Education: degree (BSc/MSc) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a comparable field--or equivalent professional training with a proven track record.
- Seniority: 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering or BI development, with at least 2-3 years focused on Data Architecture or Technical Leadership.
- Communication: Very good English skills (written and spoken).
- Legal: A valid work permit for Austria.

With over 170 employees it can be difficult to maintain the startup atmosphere, so we place a lot of emphasis on a friendly working atmosphere and extensive onboarding.
For this position, we offer you a gross monthly salary starting at EUR 3.800 on a full-time basis. Of course, we take into account your individual qualifications and experience and are willing to pay an appropriate overpayment. We will be happy to discuss details in person.
