We are Formunauts – a fast-growing Impact company with a clear mission:

Since 2014, our award-winning software has helped make fundraising campaigns more efficient, increasing the funds available for meaningful projects. Since 2020, we have been operating the world’s first marketplace for face-to-face fundraising, opening up new potential for organizations and social impact startups.

In short: We build technology that enables real-world impact

Your Role

We're looking for a Hands-on Engineering Lead, taking over the day-to-day leadership for our 8-person cross-functional engineering team. You’ll manage and grow people, steer technical strategy and architecture, and still write meaningful production code. We expect you to actively explore and introduce new technologies, to improve how we build software and to unlock new, future proof capabilities in our product.

Expect roughly

  • 30% Team leadership
  • 30% Technical leadership
  • 30% Hands-on development
  • 10% Delivery & coordination

What You'll Do

Team

  • Own hiring for the team.
  • Run regular 1:1s, performance reviews and career planning.
  • Mentor engineers and run technical onboarding.
  • Foster a healthy team culture: psychological safety, feedback, and continuous improvement.

Technical leadership (30%)

  • Own and evolve the technical roadmap and architectural vision.
  • Make/drive key architecture decisions and cross-service designs.
  • Advance and enforce development standards (code reviews, testing, observability).
  • Lead technical evolution and and platform improvements
  • Introduce new technologies, not limited to A.I., to improve productivity, product capabilities or system quality.

Hands-on development (30%)

  • Implement high-impact features and architectural changes.
  • Tackle the hardest technical problems and unblock teammates.
  • Review PRs for high-risk changes and mentor via code reviews.
  • Contribute to DevOps work and reliability improvements.

Delivery & coordination (10%)

  • Collaborate with Product on prioritisation and release planning.
  • Lead incident response for major outages and post-mortems.
  • Improve delivery predictability and engineering processes.

What You Bring

  • Several years building and shipping production systems and leading small-medium teams.
  • Strong backend/frontend experience (either or both, no need for Full-Stack).
  • Solid track record of architecture, system design, and pragmatic tradeoffs.
  • Prior people management or clear mentoring experience.
  • Hands-on coding comfort, you'll still ship code regularly.
  • Familiarity with modern cloud and CI/CD practices (e.g. Amazon Web Services, Docker, Cypress).
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging technologies and tools.
  • Interest in modern tooling, including A.I., automation and new frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, you translate technical tradeoffs to product and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A collaborative, quality-driven mindset and ownership mentality.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with Django.
