For over 40 years, Webster Vienna Private University (WVPU) has provided its students with an internationally competitive, American-style liberal arts education in the heart of Europe. As part of a global network of campuses based in St. Louis, USA, WVPU offers a student-centered education within the framework of a European research university. We offer accredited programs in our Business and Management, International Relations, Media Communications, and Psychology Departments. We are expanding our team and would like to fill a position in the psychology department with immediate effect. We are looking for a committed and experienced person who enjoys working with students and helps shape the expansion of the psychology department.

Head of Counseling Services/Counselor (f/m/d)

Part-time (20 hours/week) Starting date: September 2024

The Head of Counseling Services, 'University Counselor' provides counseling services, oversees all graduate internships and counseling and leads the expansion of the counseling services and hence the growth of the program.

Working closely together with faculty teaching in the graduate program on Psychology with an Emphasis in Counseling Psychology, the position holder is tasked to maintain the highest quality of counseling services, expand internship opportunities, oversee official processes for licensure in Austria (Propädeutikum) and develop further services with the goals of strengthening and expanding the university's academic program

Your main tasks:

  • Supervise the university's counseling services
  • Manage, coordinate and supervise Counseling Internships for students of the graduate program MA in Psychology with an Emphasis in Counseling Psychology including:
  • Maintaining a wide network of internship providers relevant to WVPU students
  • Approving internships and regularly assessing student performance
  • Coordinate and supervise the 'Propädeutikum' process including the reporting to the Austrian Federal Ministry for Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection
  • Coordinate and supervise the university's Learning Services
  • Provide counseling related workshops for students and employees and teach in the degree program
  • Develop the expansion of the counseling services to external stakeholders

Your profile:

  • Completed studies in psychology (Master equivalent)
  • Completed training as a psychotherapist; registration in the BMG (Austrian Federal Ministry for Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection) list
  • Relevant work experience for the position, including supervising small study groups
  • Business acumen for expansion of counseling services
  • Good contacts to relevant stakeholders in order to further expand the cooperation network
  • In addition to German, excellent knowledge of English (working language is English)

The minimum annual gross compensation for this position is EUR 58.000,- (basis 40 hours/week); the final salary is dependent on relevant experience and qualifications.
