The role

As Strategic Assistant to our Head of Meteorology you combine strong scientific intuition with excellent communication skills in order to bridge research, data analysis and client-facing work. This is not only a challenging role for a specialist, but for someone with the potential to grow into a team lead role for our model development team.

Your main responsibilities

  • Scientific Support & Analysis
    • Connect, interpret, and synthesize meteorological information from various data sources and research outputs
    • Apply strong scientific intuition to evaluate internal model and analysis results
    • Challenge existing research findings and identify optimization opportunities within modeling and data-processing chains
    • Contribute ideas that enhance the scientific quality, efficiency, and robustness of workflows
  • Presentation & Communication
    • Condense, prepare, and visualize research results and meteorological data for internal stakeholders and clients
    • Act as a scientific expert alongside Sales and Key Account Management in client meetings
    • Serve as a communication bridge between R&D, engineering, and meteorology teams, ensuring scientific accuracy and clarity
  • Strategic & Organizational Tasks
    • Collaborate closely with the Head of Meteorology on departmental strategy, planning, and cross-functional initiatives
    • Take on selected operational and strategic responsibilities from the department head
    • Support project coordination, documentation, follow-up, and stakeholder alignment across teams
    • Ensure smooth communication flows, meeting preparation, and priority management

You’re a fit if you have

  • A degree in Atmospheric Science, Physics, Scientific Computing, or a related field
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex meteorological model outputs and data
  • Excellent scientific intuition and a willingness to challenge existing assumptions
  • Experience in translating technical content into clear, accessible communication for non-scientists
  • Strong presentation skills and confidence in client-facing settings
  • A high level of organization, reliability, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and stakeholders
  • A proactive mindset and a pragmatic, structured approach to problem-solving
  • Excellent communication skills in English; German language skills are a plus

We are aware that this number does not reflect the seniority or impact of the role - which is why a significant overpayment is expected, depending on your qualifications and experience.
