Join the U.S. Embassy in Austria’s Medical Unit as a:

Registered Nurse / Diplomierte Gesundheits- und Krankenpfleger:in (f/m/d)

Duties and Responsibilities:

The incumbent serves as the post’s nurse with responsibilities that include the medical care of Mission employees and eligible family members, utilizing MED approved clinical guidelines, as well as maintenance and inventory of all medical equipment and supplies, implementation of a robust vaccination program, documentation through the global electronic medical record, system administration of group and individual health education programs, and medical emergency contingency planning for the Mission. The incumbent will work in the Medical Unit under the direct clinical supervision of the Regional Medical Officer (RMO) or Medical Provider (MP).

Qualifications and competencies we seek:

We are looking for a quick learner with great interpersonal skills, who is able to deal with a broad range of personnel in a sometimes-stressful environment:

  • Degree (RN Level) in Nursing or Diploma/Certificate equivalent from an accredited or recognized School of Nursing. Must possess and maintain a valid, current, and unrestricted nursing license from the host nation, the U.S., or a third country and able to legally work as a nurse in the country of employment.

  • A minimum of two (2) years (equivalent of 4160 hours) post-qualification clinical work as a professional nurse within the last 10 (ten) years is required. No more than a five-year gap in clinical practice is permitted. Clinical work experience includes direct hands-on patient care (i.e. patient assessment, medication administration, immunizations, IV insertions, laboratory procedures, etc.)

  • Good working knowledge in English
