Schneider Electric is looking to strengthen their Sustainability Business team. The Sustainability Business is at the forefront of the development and delivery of strategic solutions to address climate action, sustainability consulting, data and resource management, sustainable energy procurement and supply chain decarbonization.

To further develop Schneider's client base, we have a vacant role within our Sustainability team to spearhead this engagement. The Senior Business Developer / Sales Manager will be a part of the Central Europe Sales team within Schneider's Sustainability Business, which is one of the fastest-growing, innovative and dynamic teams within the Schneider Electric Group.

Our EcoAct Business Development

Schneider Electric is a leading advisor on decarbonization. EcoAct became part of the Sustainability Business in late 2023 and represents a valuable addition to our consulting practice with a clear focus on climate advisory and climate projects such as nature-based solutions projects. The Senior Business Developer / Sales Manager will sell the EcoAct offering with a focus on selling the advisory services and develop the business relations of the largest organizations. We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Sales Manager.

The mission of the Business Development Manager is to sell EcoAct's market leading services to our target client base, typically Euro Stoxx 50 corporates or similar across the Central Europe region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Eastern Europe). The focus of the role is twofold; winning new clients and nurturing and growing existing client business through professional account management.
The successful applicant will play a key role in the Sales team, working collaboratively with Sales and Consulting colleagues to prospect and close sales in line with team and personal targets. The role reports to the Commercial Director for the Central Europe region.

This position is based in the DACH region and multi-country in terms of client scope.

Your To Do's:

Lead Generation and Follow-up:

  • Prospect and identify new business opportunities to existing and new customers through lead generation activities.
  • Develop relationships and arranging meetings with leading companies based in Central Europe.
  • Contact and qualify marketing qualified leads (MQLs) and follow up with leads generated from all marketing activities.
  • Be present in leading conferences and events to build up new relationships and to generate leads.
  • Proposal Writing and Tender Support:
  • Respond to tenders, write and win competitive proposals.
  • Follow-up with client contacts to manage process, set-up appointments, gather additional information and track progress towards closure of the opportunity.
  • Support the BD team members and the consulting team in pitches and presentations.
  • Account Management:
  • Build effective relationships with existing clients to ensure future and repeat business through identification of new business opportunities that add value.
  • Salesforce management and Additional Responsibilities:
  • Track new and existing opportunities and maintain records of the overall sales pipeline within the company CRM (Salesforce).
  • Prepare regular sales pipeline reporting, and sales performance information using Salesforce.
  • Support BD and Advisory team members to achieve their own sales targets.
  • Obtain and address feedback from clients to ensure high quality service delivery and support.
  • Take responsibility for achieving personal and team targets, and report accurate management information in sales meetings.
  • Develop and maintain a positive, collaborative working relationship with all other functions in the Central European business and wider organization.
  • Communicate market/customer feedback and service requirements/ opportunities to the rest of the organization as appropriate.

About You

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental or Sustainability Studies Energy, Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related technical field with strong sales preferably in sustainability consulting (CDP, CSRD, Carbon Offsetting, SBT...)
  • You are fluent in German (mandatory) and English (mandatory). Any other language is a bonus.
  • Proven sales track record in a consultative environment. Comfort with selling and demonstratable experience in supporting the sale of large business deals with EURO STOXX 600, similar listed or private clients or organizations.
  • Active, hands-on approach with clients, not reluctant to cold call, travel and personally help colleagues' close opportunities as necessary.
  • Ability to manage multiple ongoing assignments simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn and a genuine passion for sustainability
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with proven track record of quickly building credibility both internally and externally
  • Impeccable integrity and ethical standards
