The Media Legal Team is the legal centre of expertise for any question in relation to the acquisition, development, production and distribution of content be it around events, sports or culture.

Do you want to become part of a specialist and focused team providing advice to a large business across a range of different subject matters in the world of Red Bull? As Senior Media Legal Counsel, you'll advise Red Bull Media House production management & producers, as well as Red Bull countries on all media-related legal matters.

RESPONSIBILITIES

All the responsibilities we'll trust you with:

LEGAL COUNSELLING

You'll provide the highest quality legal advice in Austria and for Red Bull countries (except the US and the Commonwealth countries) across the following key areas: Production, Music, Social Media, Content Sales, Advertising, Brand Partnerships, Rights Management.

You'll advice a variety of departments as Production Management, Communications, Content Distribution with respect to a full range of legal and business issues. Furthermore, you'll support other Legal Counsels in media rights related matters, e.g. regarding athlete Sponsorship Agreement or Commercial Partnerships. In relation to key matters you'll liaise with the Head of Business Affairs and ensure accurate reporting.

We are a lean and focused team and flexible team players who work with other lawyers and staff at all levels and move with the changing demands and priorities of a fast paced and challenging business. Our team works closely with the US and UK Red Bull Media House legal teams to determine and operate consistent legal practice for the Red Bull media business on a worldwide, cross-jurisdictional basis.

ADVISING ON AGREEMENTS

In this role, you'll provide proactive, strategic and practical advice and draft, review and finalize agreements with production partners, service providers, (co-)production partners, rights holders and other parties in the national and international media business.

TRAINING

Together with the manager you'll provide and continually update trainings and templates to enable and empower your business partners.

RIGHTS MANAGEMENT PROCESS

You'll enter agreements to the rights management system to reflect the rights status of productions using Red Bull Media House global systems.

Experience

Your areas of knowledge and expertise

That matter most for this role:

  • Minimum 4 years' experience, including 2 years practicing solely in a media and/or IP law environment, preferably in or with a large global corporation
  • Very good legal drafting, negotiation and analytical skills
  • In depth experience of legal issues arising in connection with: (a) production (b) content and media regulation/compliance (c) rights clearance (d) music law and industry (e) cross-jurisdictional content distribution/acquisition f) gaming (g) global rights management
  • Proficiency in Austrian, German or Swiss copyright, contract and media laws
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and legal judgment
  • Provide quick, reliable and clear assessments on potential rights infringements
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with business and creative personnel
  • Law degree. If German law degree, I. and II. State Exam ("Volljurist"); at least one with excellence "Prädikat". In Austria attorney at law exam is of advantage. Qualified & practicing Solicitor of England and Wales. Degree level education - minimum 2:1 (or equivalent) at top tier university.
  • Excellent knowledge of English and German with the proficiency to draft contracts in both languages
  • Travel 10%

However, our attractive compensation package is based on market-oriented salaries and is therefore significantly above the stated minimum salary.
