Your responsibilities

The Ethics Office plays a central role in fostering awareness for research integrity, ethics, and research security at ISTA. We are looking for a highly qualified and motivated professional to join our team in the Ethics Office and contribute their expertise in the fields of mathematics, data and computational sciences. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute shape ISTA's framework for responsible conduct of research.

  • Raise awareness: Designing, planning, and conducting engaging training sessions on responsible research practices
  • Ethics monitoring: Providing expert guidance on ethical aspects of research projects for grant applications and monitoring of ongoing research projects, with a focus on computational sciences
  • Coordination and procedural support of the ISTA Ethics Committee
  • Support services: Act as point of contact for scientific and administrative staff seeking advice on research integrity and ethics, research security, and compliance matters
  • Policy development: Contribute to the continuous improvement of ISTA's guidelines, policies, and procedures in research integrity, ethics, and research security
  • Documentation and reporting: Prepare internal documentation, reports, and input for external communications
  • Represent ISTA at relevant national and international meetings focusing on the topics of responsible conduct of research

Your profile

  • Higher academic education, ideally PhD, in relevant field (mathematics, data science, computational sciences), several years of experience in international scientific research
  • Knowledge of topics and concepts related to research ethics and integrity - please describe your specific experience and motivation in your application letter
  • Prior experience in research management, ethics oversight, or teaching/training activities is a strong asset
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English (the working language at ISTA), proficiency in German is an advantage
  • Very high level of personal integrity and sense of responsibility, ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage constructively with scientists from diverse disciplines
  • Structured, highly reliable, and proactive working style, ability to work independently
