The undergraduate degree program “Comparative International Business Law” is currently undergoing accreditation by AQ Austria.
WVPU is looking to fill a full-time (40h/week) faculty position:
Assistant Professor (f/m/d)
to expand and strengthen our newly established Department of Law
Starting date: January 2027
We welcome internationally oriented research profiles in comparative international business law with a focus on corporate or contract law.
Responsibilities:
The following criteria are required:
a) Publications
Produce career stage-appropriate academic publications (peer-reviewed journals and books/book chapters) in line with university research evaluation policies.
b) Third-Party Funding
Successfully acquire third-party funding to advance individual research objectives.
c) International visibility (scientific) and cooperation
Regularly present papers and research activities at international scientific conferences, participate in peer-review processes, and serve on editorial boards.
d) Third Mission and Public outreach
Publicly disseminate findings from research and teaching to society and the economy.
e) Teaching
Maintain a regular teaching load (with a minimum of one course/year up to a maximum of six courses/year, depending on activities in other areas).
f) Mentorship and leadership
At all levels, faculty supervise student research, but also research assistants, doctoral students working on projects, as well as colleagues, where appropriate and scientific support staff.
Requirements:
The following criteria are required.
- PhD in law;
- Demonstrated commitment to advance scientific research;
- Appropriate level of expertise and publication track record in international business law, particularly corporate or contract law;
- Proven participation in third-party funded research teams and projects;
- Demonstrated pedagogic and didactic success in university-level teaching;
- Active international engagement with academic and non-academic stakeholders;
- Fluency in English.

Following a comprehensive evaluation process, based on the successful completion and assessment of an individually agreed performance agreement, candidates may, upon mutual agreement with WVPU, transition to a position with an unlimited contract.

Salary
The minimum annual gross compensation amounts to (basis 40 hours/week): Assistant Professor: EUR 70.000.- The final salaries will depend on experience and qualifications.
