IT:U is a new technical university in Austria (Linz) dedicated to digital transformation, driven by interdisciplinary research and project-based learning to actively shape this transformation and advance it with a solution-oriented approach.

We are seeking a forward-thinking Open Science Expert who wants to drive the design and implementation of a comprehensive Open Science concept across the university to make research outputs accessible and reusable. Open Science Expert (f/m/d) *

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • Design, implement and maintain a university‐wide Open Science concept that aligns with international standards and frameworks
  • Engage in hands‐on technical work to develop, implement and manage Open Science tools and platforms
  • Work closely with internal data owners, researchers, lecturers and technical experts to integrate Open Science practices, policies, guidelines and processes into workflows
  • Collaborate with external non‐profit partners and corporate entities and represent the university in national and international Open Science initiatives, forums and networks
  • Drive the dissemination of Open Science principles internally and externally, and embed them in university culture, while contributing to ideation and mentorship in academic projects to foster innovation and real-world impact
  • Stay up to date with emerging trends, tools and recommendations; select the best technologies for specific use cases and contribute to grant writing and research proposals

Your strengths and skills:

  • Academic degree in Information Science, Data Science, Research Management, Computer Science or a related discipline
  • At least 3 years of professional experience working in Open Science (principles, strategies, initiatives) in higher education or the public sector
  • Demonstrable experience with Open Science tools (e.g. CRIS, RDM systems, ORCID) and standards/frameworks (e.g. FAIR, DOI, GDPR); knowledge of data governance and data quality; experience with databases and coding (e.g., Python, Node.js) is a plus
  • Experience in designing and delivering complex concepts clearly and systematically for lectures, labs or workshops on Open Science-related topics
  • Strong communication skills for explaining complex systems, regulations, and procedures; excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills and customer service orientation toward researchers, students and staff
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; highly developed organizational and planning capability, with the ability to anticipate future needs and trends
  • Professional proficiency in English (at least C1)

Competitive compensation starting from EUR 50.000 yearly gross salary, with the possibility of overpayment based on qualifications and experience.
