Your Role
As Development Engineer – NanoPro you are part of the NanoPro engineering team and contribute to the technical implementation, testing, and further development of NanoPro systems — UpNano’s next generation of 2PP printers. The role focuses on the development of the NanoPro’s optical engine on both the hardware and the software side, including control software and calibration methods for optical and machine-related subsystems.
You report to the Lead NanoPro Engineering and work closely with the CTO.
Your Tasks
Development and Engineering
- Actively contribute to the development, testing, integration, and improvement of NanoPro systems
- Assemble and align optical, mechanical, and laser-related components
- Develop and refine hardware and software for novel printing modes based on 2PP
- Devise new and improve existing calibration methods for advanced 2PP printing systems
- Support technology decisions through prototypes, experiments, data analysis, and feasibility studies
Collaboration and Documentation
- Work closely with software, electronics, applications, production, service, quality management, and external suppliers
- Provide proactive feedback on technical risks, dependencies, and improvement opportunities
- Maintain structured and traceable documentation of development results, changes, and test outcomes
Your Profile
Qualifications and Technical Skills
- Degree or equivalent technical qualification in physics, photonics, optics, mechatronics, precision engineering, computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related technical field
- Profound theoretical knowledge in optics and photonics
- Practical experience with lasers, optical setups, and photonic technologies
- Experience in designing, assembling, aligning, and calibrating optical systems
- Good understanding of various 3D printing processes, with a focus on 2PP-based printing systems
- Practical knowledge of programming languages such as Python and C++
- Basic mechanical, electrical, and CAD understanding
- Ability to prepare technical content and documentation for test reports, internal reviews, management decision papers, or scientific publications
- Excellent command of English; German is an advantage

Salary
The actual minimum salary is 3,415 € gross per month (on a 38.5-hour basis), the actual salary depends on your qualifications and experience. The salary is paid 14 times per year.
