Who we are:

EBG MedAustron is a cancer treatment and research centre in Wiener Neustadt that is unique in Austria. MedAustron uses ion therapy, an innovative form of radiation therapy, in the fight against cancer.

We offer a unique working environment built around the particle accelerator used for therapy and research with protons and carbon ions. We have set ourselves the goal of prolonging the lives of cancer patients and improving their quality of life.

Our Medical Physics team is responsible for acceptance, medical commissioning and quality assurance (QA) of all medical devices related to ion beam therapy. We use state-of-the-art robotic systems and novel imaging procedures here.

As a Medical Physicist with focus on medical software, you play an important role in treatment for our patients. With your in-depth knowledge of medical software, you will ensure the stable integration and further development of our clinical systems, support the introduction of new procedures, coordinate software upgrades, consulting training for other teams and thus lay the foundation for safe and efficiently planned patient treatment. This allows you to make a real difference in the lives of cancer patients.

Medical Physicist (f/m/x)

A job where you can make a difference:

  • Routine clinical duties
  • Quality assurance (dosimetric QA and inroom QA)
  • Dosimetry
  • Medical physicist at the treatment machine
  • Patient-specific QA (dosimetric and in-room equipment)
  • Treatment planning
  • Special Focus on medical software
  • Integration of critical medical software with existing systems; preparation, implementation, and training for new procedures; troubleshooting.
  • Support in testing new software releases, including preparation and orchestration of upgrade procedures.
  • Communication with software vendors to propose and coordinate software enhancements that address current clinical and user needs.
  • Development, configuration, implementation, and maintenance of customizable software features.
  • Consulting and training for other teams regarding the use of available software and potential development options.
  • Development, implementation and validation of scripts and development of SQL queries

Skills that make you our strength:

  • Academic studies (Masters degree or PhD) in Medical Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Informatics or similar
  • Initial clinical experience in Medical Physics
  • A Medical Physics certification is advantageous, but not essential
  • A strong interest in particle therapy and treatment planning and ideally experience in these areas is an advantage
  • Willingness to work in shifts
  • Very good English skills and at least basic German knowledge
  • Hands-on mentality, flexibility and team spirit
  • Good presentation and communication skills in an interdisciplinary and intercultural environment

For legal reasons, we are obliged to point out that the minimum annual gross salary for this position is EUR 66,703.90. Remuneration is based on a salary scale that takes into account professional experience and qualifications.
