Environmental and Energy Manager (m/f/d), Austria

We are looking for an Environmental and Energy (EE) Manager (full time), to manage and monitor the environmental and energy performance of Wood Products production units at the national level, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and reducing the environmental impact of operations. This includes monitoring and improving the energy efficiency of selected units, as well as coordinating the Integrated Management System (IMS) and other sustainability responsibilities.

Your location will be Ybbs an der Donau (AT) or Brand (AT) or Bad St. Leonhard (AT). You will report to our Director Operational Sustainability, located in Finland, but you will work in close collaboration with the Austrian units Mill Management Teams.

Your tasks and responsibilities

Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and reporting to authorities

Developing and reporting on measures to enhance environmental, energy, and carbon efficiency

Supporting the organization in environmental and energy matters, including training and best practices

Reviewing compliance with environmental and energy regulations and implementing action plans

Leading investigations into environmental non-compliance and coordinating actions

Identifying and assessing environmental and energy risks

Promoting continuous improvement through goals and action plans

Conducting energy audits and developing energy-saving plans

Developing processes and instructions according to standards and guidelines

Ensuring preparedness for environmental and energy emergencies

Communicating environmental and energy initiatives and organizing team meetings

Managing chemicals, waste, and waste reduction efforts

Representing the unit to internal and external stakeholders and authorities

Supporting and participating in audits and reviews

Providing expert support for projects and procurement

Preparing investments for energy savings and environmental improvements

Undertaking additional sustainability tasks and certification coordination

The monthly gross salary for this position is minimum EUR 4.000,00 plus a variable component with the willingness to offer higher pay depending on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

Candidates should hold a mid-level (A-level) degree in energy engineering, preferably complemented by a background in environmental engineering.

Applicants should have practical experience in energy and environmental management within an industrial context.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, effective communication skills, the capacity to motivate others, experience working in matrix organizations, proficiency in team-oriented and results-focused work planning, and adept problem-solving skills.

You provide excellent language skills in German and solid proficiency in English

You adeptly operate in a digital environment and master the common MS Office applications

We expect the capability to work in international teams and independently

Travel ranging from 25-50% mainly in Austria is required for this position
