Functional Safety Engineer/Architect

Position Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Functional Safety Engineer who will play a key role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our commercial vehicles by implementing functional safety standards and methodologies. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive safety processes and contribute to the overall success of our projects.

Tasks - Your responsibilities

  • Understand intended functionality of systems in a broad automotive context.
  • Lead and participate in the development of safety concepts, hazard analysis, and risk assessments for our products in compliance with relevant safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262).
  • Collaborate with hardware and software engineering teams to ensure functional safety requirements are properly implemented and verified.
  • Conduct safety audits and reviews throughout the development lifecycle, ensuring compliance with safety standards and best practices.
  • Work closely with external certification bodies and authorities to achieve safety certifications for our products.
  • Provide guidance on safety measures and best practices to project teams, fostering a safety-conscious culture within the organization.
  • Generate the necessary Functional Safety documentation for the project following ISO26262: Fault-tree analysis, Hazard analysis, technical safety concepts and requirements.
  • Attend Functional Safety reviews as needed.

Skills - Knowledge - Experience - Your profile:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in functional safety engineering, preferably in commercial vehicle domain.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety standards such as ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with safety analysis tools and methodologies.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • English language (spoken and written)
  • Certification in Functional Safety (e.g., CFSE).

Preferable:

  • Previous experience of delivering Functional Safety documentation as defined by ISO26262.
  • Experience in development of one or more of: automotive powertrain control systems, high-voltage electrical power supplies, hybrid vehicles, ADAS features or similar technical fields.
  • Experience in conducting FMEA, FTA, FMEDA, HARA activities.

The Employee will be classified to the Usage Group IV according to Collective Agreement for Employees of Information und Consulting (Collective Bargaining Agreement of Information und Consulting), as a basis for negotiation of the annual gross remuneration (full-time). We will, in any case, offer market-conforming gross remuneration taking qualifications and professional experience into account.
