The Trademark Department at the Headquarters in Fuschl am See in Austria handles and coordinates all trademark prosecution matters worldwide for Red Bull and its affiliated companies in over 200 jurisdictions.

In this position, you will be responsible for the Trademark Portfolio and Prosecution for Europe including WIPO IR marks as well as for Global Trademark Clearances. As part of the Global prosecution Team, you will report to the Global Head of Intellectual Property. Your responsibilities include managing and defending this regional portfolio including process and strategy development for the region combined with the global responsibility for trademark clearances for all new projects, line extensions and/or products.

RESPONSIBILITIES

All the responsibilities we'll trust you with:

PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT

Manage the regional trademark portfolio of Red Bull in Europe including WIPO IR Marks from application through to registration including office actions, provisional refusals, refilings based on non-use, renewals, assignments, etc.

Work in close collaboration with the paralegal team and/or through our network of national local counsels.

Support the IP Counsel with the creation and update of prosecution strategies based on business needs.

PASSIVE OPPOSITIONS AND CANCELLATIONS

Defend our trademark portfolio against attacks from third parties, including oppositions and cancellations.

Handle Co-Existence Agreements resulting out of any passive conflicts.

GLOBAL TRADEMARK CLEARANCE MANAGEMENT AND REVIEW

Closely oversee and guide the work of the trademark manager in clearance work for advertising and promotional materials, cartoons, new products, new event logos and titles.

Manage the Trademark Clearance Process, Workflow and Approval in cooperation with Brand Marketing.

Attend Interdepartmental weekly Business meetings related to trademark clearances for new projects, line extensions and/or products and on that basis carry projects forward.

WORKFLOW & PROCESSES

Oversee, update and develop streamlined, effective and efficient workflows and processes for the trademark prosecution team based on the internal IP Software and systems.

Ensure Software Manuals are updated, as necessary.

TEAM MANAGEMENT

Supervise, co-ordinate and manage a team of Paralegals.

Supervise and guide one Trademark Attorney in clearance matters.

BUDGET

Review and approve invoices of external counsels.

Assist IP Counsel with managing the Prosecution budget.

Experience

Your areas of knowledge and expertise

That matter most for this role:

  • At least 5-8 years experience in intellectual property law, preferably with an international law firm or company as well as experience in handling trademark prosecution matters
  • Expertise in European and WIPO IR Prosecution would be a plus.
  • Track record in handling legal IT workflows & processes, tools and projects
  • Experience in project and people management
  • Analytical, professional & solution oriented working style
  • Teamoriented, self starter and proactive personality
  • Strong communication and decision making skills
  • Law Degree, LLM (in IP Law) would be a plus
  • Fluency In German and English
  • Travel 10%
