Intern - Business Management Investment Division & Assistance CIO (6 - 12 months)

As fully-owned subsidiary of Erste Group Bank AG, Erste Asset Management GmbH coordinates and is responsible for all asset management activities of the Group. More than 300 employees develop and manage investment solutions for our investors across 6 different countries.
The EAM Investment Division develops, manages and monitors investment solutions (funds and portfolios) for the major asset classes Fixed Income, Equities, Multi Asset Management and Responsible Investments.

Your tasks

As a Business Management & Assistance intern, you will be part of EAM's Investment Solutions & Controlling team. This unit reports directly to Erste Asset Management's Chief Investment Officer. In support of and close coordination with the Senior Business Manager you will work on the following tasks:

Supporting fund & business management

  • Automating manual processes wherever possible, using VBA/programming macros
  • Develop presentations and reports - aiding management in organizing and preparing for offsites, client and team meetings, etc.
  • Project management - support management on ad hoc projects as required
  • Process management - establish and implement processes to institutionalize management tasks
  • Calculation and communication of budgets
  • Preparation and moderation of weekly market morning meeting

Risk & performance reporting

  • Handling Big Data, establishment and maintenance of internal data bases
  • Re-engineering and updating of existing tools used to manage the division (performance calculations, data maintenance, etc.)
  • Prepare performance reports for CIO

Office administration

  • Plan, coordinate and ensure the CIO's schedule is followed and respected
  • Answer phones and transfer to the appropriate staff member
  • Assist with on-boarding, event planning and implementation; accurately track expenses and organize travel arrangements for CIO
  • Maintain confidentiality and use a high degree of discretion

These tasks require a high degree of interaction with the front, middle and back office - you need to build close relationships across the firm.

The position is an entry position with a rather unusual profile. While some administrative/assistant tasks have to be done we would like to use the position to get to know some interesting potential.


  • have a Bachelor's degree in economics, finance or technical degree with focus on finance
  • have excellent Microsoft Office skills (VBA programming, functions & formulas), higher-level programming languages are a plus
  • have analytical capability and a precise style of working
  • have strong communication skills and adapt quickly to new challenges
  • have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and German
  • work experience within the financial services industry is a plus
