At St. Anna Children's Cancer Research Institute, scientific progress thrives on teamwork and collaboration across all disciplines. As Lab Operations Manager you ensure that lab environments run smoothly, safely, and efficiently.

In this role, you will enable high-quality research by aligning scientific needs with operational excellence. You will work closely with Technical Assistants, Facility Management, and leadership, and play a central role in developing and maintaining the structures and processes that enable our research.

Your responsibilities

Laboratory Operations & Infrastructure:

  • Coordinate laboratory operations at an institutional level and serve as the key interface between research groups, Facility Management, internal services and leadership
  • Oversee shared equipment, and laboratory infrastructure

Storage & Sample Management:

  • Manage biospecimen storage, including capacity monitoring and inventory tracking
  • Establish and maintain a centralized lab management system

Laboratory Transitions:

  • Coordinate onboarding of new research groups into laboratory facilities
  • Manage structured offboarding, including sample transfer, archiving, and disposal

Health, Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure laboratory safety, regulatory compliance, and coordination of safety trainings in coordination with the EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) department
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of operational processes and standards

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Report to Scientific Directors
  • Collaborate closely with research teams, Facility Management, EHS and other internal services groups
  • Communicate operational updates clearly and professionally

Your profile

What you bring for this position:

  • Master's degree in Life Sciences or related field
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience in a wet-lab environment
  • Experience in laboratory operations, lab management, or similar roles preferred
  • Good understanding of laboratory workflows, infrastructure & safety standards
  • Experience with lab management systems and data base
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Proactive mindset with strong initiative and solution-oriented thinking
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • German skills are a plus

A fair and attractive salary package starting at EUR 3.540 ,-- gross (14x per year) on full-time basis with a viewto increase based on your qualification and experience
