Project Assistant - Power Electronics (f/m/d)

Your future responsibilities

The power electronics team located in Villach is seeking for motivated students to work side by side with our scientists and research engineers towards scientific paper contributions, preparation of lab setups and building prototypes and test setups for various scenarios.

As student you can get the unique possibility to expand your knowledge on the following list of emerging topics in power electronics:

  • Explore the field of WBG devices and dig into device characterization, modelling and simulation for power electronic devices and systems.
  • Work with novel test setups, characterize power semiconductor devices and build up multi-domain simulation models for power electronic simulations.
  • Improve state-of-the-art power electronics packaging and cooling technologies for active and passive components.
  • Understand the packaging and fabrication aspects of power electronic assemblies and work on novel mechanical solutions for improved packaging.
  • Optimize power electronic converters by improving control algorithms and implement real time sensing options for condition monitoring of power electronic systems.
  • Work on the electrical and mechanical design of next generation power converters with beyond state-of-the-art power density and efficiency.

Your profile

This position is meant for students from bachelor to master level, supporting the "study and work" program of FH Kärnten.

As the perfect candidate for a master thesis within our group in the research field of power electronics, you have enhanced capabilities beyond basic knowledge in multiple of the following fields:

  • PCB design for electronic circuits.
  • Simulations for active power devices andor passive components.
  • Power semiconductor device characterization andor modelling.
  • Passive components characterization.
  • Power semiconductor device level packaging.
  • Power electronics system integration and high density packaging.
  • MCU programming and real-time MCU applications.
  • Advanced mechanical design & simulation.
  • FEM or CFD simulation of complex geometries or power electronic devices or systems

Depending on your performance and skillset there may be the possibility to expand the topics you will be working on towards a future master thesis or a master project.

This position is subject to the Collective Agreement for employees in non-university research (Research CA) starting in occupational group C 1 (EUR 2681). We offer competitive salaries and additional benefits based on your experience and qualifications. For this position, your minimum monthly gross salary starts with EUR 2681, paid 14 times a year.
