Your responsibilities
The Miba Machine Shop-team designs, manufactures, assembles, and tests specialized mechanical and electronic devices for use in experimental research groups at ISTA. To strengthen our team, we are looking for a hands-on Electronics Engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges and building custom solutions for scientific research. Working closely with our researchers, you will contribute to a wide variety of projects spanning physics, chemistry, and the life sciences.
- Collaborate closely with scientists to translate experimental requirements into practical electronic solutions
- Design and develope electronic prototypes for laboratory and research applications
- Assemble, test, and commission developed electronic devices and prototype systems
- Perform RF/DC circuits testing, analysis, troubleshooting, modeling, failure duplication and device analysis down to the component level
- Evaluate, modiy, and optimize existing laboratory and research equipment (e.g., centrifuges, microscopes, manipulators)
Your profile
- Degree in electronics engineering, such as a completed HTL diploma or ongoing/completed studies at a university of applied sciences (FH) or technical university
- Advanced skills in soldering and repairing electronic components and experience with microcontroller programming (i.e. Arduino)
- Work experience in prototyping design in the field of electronics is of advantage, ideally in a research environment
- Ability to use electronic equipment such as meters, oscilloscopes, function generators etc.
- Good communication skills in German and English (The institute's language is English)
- Service-oriented and proactive personality with strong problem-solving skills, a practical hands-on mindset, and the ability to independently manage technical projects while adapting flexibly to changing research requirements
