Samsung SDI Battery is a leading company in the field of e-mobility. Together with our customers in the automotive industry, we develop, test, and industrialize lithium-ion battery systems for hybrid and electric vehicles.

For our Technology Center in Kalsdorf near Graz, Austria, we are looking for a Head of Manufacturing Engineering, reporting to the Director of Engineering, to own the manufacturing engineering function within our product development organization -- from process development through to qualified series equipment.

Your Mission

• Provide technical and functional leadership to the manufacturing engineering team and drive the strategic development of the function across technologies, programs and sites.
• Act as the key link between product development and series production, defining manufacturing and process requirements as binding input for pack development.
• Work in close partnership with the design team from the earliest development phase, embedding Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-assembly guidelines directly into pack architecture and component design.
• Drive innovation from our joining and assembly processes -- developing, qualifying and standardizing joining technologies, and transferring proven process know-how into new product generations and programs.
• Own the end-to-end path from process development to production equipment: process concept and feasibility, process qualification, equipment specification, automation and Smart Production from prototype to series production.
• Drive equipment coordination with headquarters in Korea -- joint equipment specifications, build and commissioning strategy, technical alignment and timeline tracking.
• Build and steer the global engineering network as the central interface between product development, industrialization, equipment suppliers and our international production sites.
• Act as the first point of contact for manufacturing engineering escalations across the network.
• Ensure early supplier involvement, standardization of manufacturing processes and equipment, and structured know-how transfer between HQ and the local organization.

Your Expertise

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Mechatronics, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a comparable technical field.
• Several years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process development, production technology, or industrialization/NPI.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing production processes and equipment, ideally in automotive, battery, or e-mobility.
• Experience in technical or functional leadership of engineering teams, ideally across several programs and sites.
• Strong understanding of the interface between product development, manufacturing engineering, and series production, including equipment procurement and automation.
• Proven ability to work in a global, matrixed organization and to align technical decisions with engineering partners in different countries and cultures; experience collaborating with Korean HQ is a strong plus.
• Strategic mindset, strong decision-making, negotiation and communication skills.
• Very good English skills; good German skills are an advantage.
