General Counsel (f/m/d) Austria

A Snapshot of Your Day

As General Counsel (f/m/d) Austria, you will combine strategic leadership with hands-on legal judgement at the heart of the energy transition. You will advise Siemens Energy Austria's management and businesses on their most important legal, governance and regulatory matters, lead the country corporate legal organization and translate complex requirements into pragmatic solutions that enable sustainable business. Your day may move from an executive-level decision and a major project support to corporate governance, a transformation initiative, government affairs or the development of people, processes and digital legal tools.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Act as a trusted legal and strategic adviser to the Managing Directors, senior leadership and the business on material decisions, with a strong focus on enabling operations while protecting the company and its people
  • Assume overall responsibility for legal governance in Austria, including corporate housekeeping, shareholders' and supervisory board matters, powers of attorney, management governance and authorized-signatory topics
  • Cooperate with dedicated legal colleagues in support of complex national and international energy-technology projects and transactions, including EPC, supply, service and solution business, claims, disputes and project risk management
  • Provide strategic guidance on corporate and M&A matters, restructurings, carve-outs, integrations and other transformation projects in a complex international matrix organization
  • Oversee litigation, arbitration, regulatory and authority proceedings, and manage external counsel, legal budgets and legal service providers with a clear focus on quality and value
  • Support the business on competition and antitrust, public procurement, commercial and trade law, data privacy, employment-related interfaces and other company-relevant legal matters, drawing on specialist expertise where appropriate
  • Represent the company's legal interests internally and externally, including in relevant industry associations and government-affairs activities, and build trusted relationships with authorities and key stakeholders
  • Drive legal excellence through fit-for-purpose processes, knowledge sharing, training, digitalization and responsible use of AI and legal technology
  • Promote a strong integrity and compliance culture and ensure that legal advice, governance and internal controls are aligned with applicable law and Siemens Energy standards

What You Bring

  • A completed law degree that qualifies you to practice or work as a senior legal professional in Austria; completion of the Austrian Bar Exam is strongly preferred
  • At least 7 years of relevant post-qualification experience, gained in a leading international law firm and/or the legal department of an international industrial or technology company
  • Broad and deep expertise in Austrian and European business law, with particular strength in Austrian corporate law, commercial contracting, M&A, governance, litigation and dispute resolution; experience in competition, public procurement, data privacy, trade or other regulated matters is an advantage
  • A strong business and financial mindset, sound risk judgement and the ability to turn legal complexity into clear, practical and commercially balanced recommendations
  • Demonstrated success in managing change and collaborating effectively across countries, businesses and functions
  • Executive presence, integrity and courage, combined with excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills and the ability to build trust at all organizational levels
  • Curiosity and a continuous-learning mindset, with enthusiasm for legal operations, digital transformation, AI-enabled solutions and modern ways of working
  • Excellent written and spoken German and English, including confident use of legal and business terminology; additional languages are welcome
