Mobile Software Engineer

Elsbethen, Österreich

Apply now

Are you passionate about building software that has a real impact on daily business operations? Join a dynamic spin-off department within Red Bull -- the internal service department that makes digital signage and interactive experiences across the Red Bull world as simple, scalable, and effective as possible. We build and operate our own content platform, create the products that manage these experiences, supply the hardware behind every screen, and act as the central knowledge and operations hub -- managing tens of thousands of devices worldwide so any brand, marketing, or sales team can bring their spaces to life with digital content.

As a Mobile Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in co-developing and enhancing our existing cross-platform applications. These tools are used daily by Red Bull staff around the globe to operate and maintain our digital signage experience. In this role, you will be involved in the product lifecycle end-to-end, from writing code to managing builds and deployments, collaborating closely with our product, design, and engineering teams to deliver exceptional user experiences on both iOS and Android.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Areas that play to your strengths

All the responsibilities we'll trust you with:

BUILD & EXTEND CROSS-PLATFORM MOBILE APPLICATIONS

You will build and extend our current cross-platform mobile application for Android and iOS, serving as a vital operations tool for Red Bull staff in the field. This application, written in Flutter, is integrated with a diverse API stack and interacts directly with physical hardware via Bluetooth.

You will be responsible for managing the app lifecycle effectively, utilizing state-of-the-art packages (e.g. freezed, go_router, dio, build_runner, sentry_flutter, flutter_ble_plus), and maintaining a robust architecture using BLoC and GetIt.
Your role will require understanding and analysing the platform architecture across various layers to ensure seamless hardware communication and optimal API utilization.
Your familiarity with modern software development practices and agile methodologies (spring, code review, XP) will be crucial.

MOBILE DEVOPS, CI/CD & ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT

You have experience setting up CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Fastlane) for automated builds and release delivery. You are proficient in Git branching strategies and Flutter flavors to manage parallel development, staging, and production tracks, using feature flags for safe, incremental rollouts.

INTEGRATE WITH CO-DEVELOPMENT TOOLS & SERVICES

We work closely with many external vendors and internal departments within Red Bull. You will be instrumental in selecting and evaluating the right tools to ensure seamless workflow and effective collaboration. This includes co-maintaining and working on codebases, tools, and libraries that are integral to our internal applications, as well as assisting in co-developing software with our fulfilment partner.

TEAMWORK & COMMUNICATION

You will collaborate closely with both our in-house engineering team and our external fulfilment partner, engaging with engineers across various disciplines. Your excellent communication skills and understanding of the importance of teamwork will be key to achieving successful outcomes.

PRODUCT INNOVATION

In our startup-like environment, you will work alongside our users and key stakeholders to create new concepts and product ideas. Staying informed about the latest trends in the digital signage industry, you will aim to be a leader in user experience and application performance. Implementing small proofs of concept (POCs) will be part of your role to demonstrate the value of new product ideas to our end-users.

Experience

Your areas of knowledge and expertise

That matter most for this role:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in mobile development, with a strong focus on Flutter (building for both Android and iOS).
  • Degree in Informatics, Computer Science or similar.
  • English fluent, German skills are a plus.
  • Experience working with Bluetooth and interfacing mobile applications with physical hardware is a strong plus.
  • Deep knowledge of BLoC for state management and GetIt for dependency injection.
  • Solid understanding of the full mobile development lifecycle and experience with state-of-the-art Flutter packages.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Flutter applications to complex back-end services.
  • Hands-on experience with automated build, test, and release pipelines (GitHub Actions, Fastlane) across development, staging, and production environments.
  • Proficient in Git branching strategies, Flutter flavors, and feature flags to control staged rollouts per target environment.
  • Travel: 0-10 %
