Career Services at Central European University (CEU) invites applications for the position of Career Services Coordinator. The CEU Career Services Office plays a leading role in institutional efforts to ensure that the university's graduates are prepared to transform their CEU experience into meaningful professional engagement. Career Services works directly with students and alumni, offering guidance, support, and information to help them develop and pursue personal visions for impact and success around the world. This includes organizing a wide range of career education programs, employer engagement initiatives, and networking opportunities that help students build skills, explore career paths, and connect with employers.
The Career Services Coordinator will serve as an integral member of the Career Services team, collaborating with colleagues on career education programming, employer engagement, student advising, and institutional initiatives that support graduate employability and career success.
Duties and Responsibilities
Main duties and responsibilities will involve the following:
Career Advising & Student/Alumni Support
- Conduct one-on-one career advising sessions with CEU students and alumni on career exploration, decision-making, job search strategies, CVs and application materials, interviewing, networking, and further study opportunities
- Provide inclusive, impartial, and confidential guidance to individuals from diverse backgrounds and academic disciplines
- Support students and alumni experiencing career uncertainty, transitions, or confidence-related challenges
- Contribute to tracking engagement and outcomes related to Career Services activities
- Research and promote relevant internship, fellowship, postgraduate study, and employment opportunities
Career Education Programming
- Design and facilitate workshops, seminars, and other educational programs focused on careers and employability
- Develop online resources, toolkits, and self-guided career learning materials
- Facilitate and moderate employer presentations, panel discussions, guest lectures, and networking events
- Apply evidence-based educational approaches and active learning methodologies to career programming
Research & Labor Market Intelligence
- Research developments in career education, employability, graduate outcomes, and labor market trends
- Analyze labor market information and sector reports to inform career advising and programming
- Translate research findings into practical resources and insights for students, alumni, and colleagues
- Support continuous improvement of Career Services through evidence-informed practice
- Gather and share sector-specific information to support student career exploration
Functional Area Lead: External Partnership Development
- Lead the development and maintenance of relationships with employers and external partners relevant to CEU students and alumni
- Identify and cultivate opportunities for employer engagement, site visits, practitioner talks, and experiential learning opportunities
- Source CEU-exclusive career development opportunities
- Coordinate and oversee large-scale employer engagement initiatives, including career fairs
Institutional Collaboration & Service Development
- Collaborate with academic departments and university units to deliver tailored career education initiatives
- Represent Career Services at relevant university events and activities
- Contribute to institutional employability and graduate outcomes initiatives
- Maintain accurate records and support quality assurance and service development efforts

Qualifications
Mandatory
- Experience in career advising, coaching, mentoring, counseling, teaching, training, or related student support activities
- Experience developing and facilitating workshops, trainings, educational programs, or learning resources
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills
- Strong organizational and administrative skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team
- Experience working and/or studying in an international or multicultural environment
- Strong learning orientation and commitment to professional development
- University degree (Bachelor's required; Master's preferred)
- Near native-level fluency in English, both written and spoken
Assets
- Knowledge of career paths pursued by graduates in the social sciences, humanities, public sector, nonprofit sector, multilateral organizations, and/or private sector
- Experience organizing complex projects, events, or programs
- Experience building relationships with external stakeholders and employer partners
- Understanding of recruitment, talent acquisition, or hiring processes
- Familiarity with labor market intelligence and employability trends
What CEU Offers
We offer a yearly salary starting at EUR 47,000 gross, as well as an attractive benefits package including a pension plan, generous vacation allowance, professional development opportunities, and a sabbatical system. The initial appointment is for one year.
