You are interested in geopolitics, markets and how businesses respond to global change? We are looking for an inquisitive, bright and proactive intern to join our BDM team for a long-term collaboration.

Where law meets geopolitics

Europe stands at an inflection point; with defence budgets surging and international trade being redrawn by sanctions, tariffs and industrial policy. Wolf Theiss, as one of Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe's leading law firms, is at the centre of it all. Looking for something more than a 'filing-and-coffee' internship? This is a hands-on role supporting some of our most high-profile cross-practice initiatives, including Defence, Ukraine Reconstruction and International Trade.

You enjoy getting stuck into research and market intelligence? You would like to learn how to turn news into client communication or marketing content that shapes how the firm is perceived by governments, industry and international institutions? In this role you will sit at the intersection of law, business strategy and international affairs. You will see how a top-tier law firm turns complex geopolitical shifts into concrete client solutions and how business development and marketing make that possible.

How you'll contribute

  • Business Development Support: Assist in the execution of BD activities across our key initiatives, including market research and client targeting
  • Policy & Market Analysis: Monitor policy and regulatory developments (EU defence frameworks, sanctions, trade policy, Ukraine reconstruction programmes) and translate these into concise and actionable briefings for partners and clients
  • Events & Presentations: Assist in the preparation of conference presentations, industry panels and client events, including coordinating logistics and drafting speaker materials
  • Content Creation: Contribute to thought leadership articles, newsletters and social media posts, tailored to in-house counsel, industry stakeholders and government affairs professionals
  • CRM & Data Management: Take responsibility for the maintenance and development of CRM data, client lists and initiative trackers
  • Cross-team Collaboration: Work with colleagues across practice groups and offices to gather input for proposals, pitches and capability statements

What matters to us

  • Advanced student (3rd year or above, or postgraduate) in Economics, International Relations, Political Science, Law, Business, Marketing, or a related field
  • Genuine interest in European affairs, defence policy, international trade, or geopolitics - you follow the news and have opinions on what it means for business
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages (German, Polish, Ukrainian, or other CEE/SEE languages) are a plus
  • Analytical mindset and business awareness, with the ability to structure and simplify complex information into clear, structured outputs targeting tangible business outcomes
  • Proactive, organised and comfortable working across multiple workstreams in a fast-moving professional environment
  • No legal background required but curiosity about how lawyers think and law firms operate is essential
