Technical Project Manager Warehouse Automation

Elsbethen, Österreich

Apply now

You drive the execution of engineering projects with a clear focus on intralogistics, automation, and warehousing. This role goes beyond classic project management -- you define processes, establish standards, and orchestrate complex technical and operational requirements from concept to handover.

Operating at the intersection of engineering, automation, IT, and operations, you ensure full alignment between business needs, compliance requirements, and system integration. You evaluate and implement future-ready technologies, streamline processes, and deliver sustainable solutions that elevate operational performance.

This role suits someone who thinks end-to-end, brings structure to complexity, and turns technical challenges into scalable, high-impact results. If you want to shape systems with long-term operational impact, this is where you make it happen.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Areas that play to your strengths

All the responsibilities we'll trust you with:

WAREHOUSE AUTOMATION

You'll lead intralogistics and automation projects, connecting the needs of production, warehousing, and material flow. These projects will form the foundation for how we approach efficiency, scalability, and long-term system performance.

As you identify opportunities for automation, you'll evaluate solutions such as AS/RS, AGVs, conveyor systems, and robotic fulfillment, making thoughtful decisions that consider performance, sustainability, maintenance, and future adaptability.

SYSTEM IMPLEMENTATION AND INTEGRATION

You will design a robust project execution framework that ensures consistency, clarity, and control across engineering initiatives. From early concept development and permitting considerations through to final system handover, you'll establish guidelines aligning technical, legal, and operational requirements.

You'll also define documentation and planning standards that create a shared structure for internal and external stakeholders, making complex projects more efficient and manageable.

TENDER STRATEGY

You'll build and maintain a strong network of vendors and consultants across automation, robotics, and intralogistics. In close collaboration with procurement and legal teams, you'll develop comprehensive tender strategies and contracts that reflect execution standards and project requirements, strengthening quality, cost control, and delivery reliability.

PROCESS OPTIMIZATION

You collaborate with Operations and strategic partners to identify bottlenecks and enhance existing structures and systems. You design and implement processes that reduce manual effort, increase efficiency, and elevate productivity while safeguarding quality and sustainability.

CUTTING-EDGE TECHNOLOGY

You stay up to date on emerging technologies, industry trends, and sustainability practices to ensure the selection of forward-looking automation systems. Your expertise informs both strategic direction and day-to-day project decisions, keeping operations competitive and scalable.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

You ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You define and refine testing procedures, monitor risks, and ensure compliance with relevant norms and regulations.

To measure success, you establish performance metrics and evaluate outcomes, applying lessons learned to continuously improve future projects.

Experience

Your areas of knowledge and expertise

That matter most for this role:

  • Degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering or related field)
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); German at conversational level
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in engineering and automation roles, including hands-on project execution
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional engineering disciplines within complex projects
  • Strong expertise in intralogistics, warehouse operations, and automation technologies
  • Solid understanding of system interfaces, including building systems, production equipment, and IT integration
  • Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and state-of-the-art technologies
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate business and operational requirements into technical solutions
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of aligning technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Proficiency in MS Office (especially MS Project) and AutoCAD
  • Travel: 10-20 %
