Erste Asset Management's Microfinance Team is looking for a motivated individual who wants to work at the intersection of private debt, emerging markets, and sustainable finance.

As part of the Investment Division, the Microfinance department manages private debt funds focused on microfinance institutions across developed, frontier, and emerging markets. In close cooperation with our Responsible Investments unit, we design and manage impact-driven strategies that combine financial performance with measurable social outcomes.

As a Fondsmanager Microfinance, you will take ownership of investment decisions and external representation from day one. You will help refine our portfolio strategy, deepen the integration of ESG principles, and contribute to the development of one of Europe's most established microfinance platforms. Your role spans analysis, reporting, trading, and cross team collaboration in a truly international environment.

Your responsibilities

  • Develop and implement microfinance investment strategies in line with our investment process and charter
  • Analyse, present, and monitor investment opportunities, including performance and risk analytics
  • Enhance investment models, tools, and processes together with the team
  • Coordinate private debt disbursements and analyse/trade fixed income and FX instruments
  • Prepare, structure, and update investment reports and follow up documentation
  • Represent the team in client meetings, conferences, and internal committees
  • Contribute to project work, including on the ground due diligences
  • Present our funds and impact/ESG approach to clients and larger audiences

Your profile - required

  • Genuine enthusiasm for microfinance and fixed income markets
  • University degree in economics, finance, business, law, international development, mathematics, physics, psychology or related fields
  • At least two years of relevant experience in microfinance, private debt, fixed income, or foreign exchange
  • Understanding of ESG and willingness to pursue certifications (CEFA, CFA, ESG Investing, etc.)
  • Strong presentation and communication abilities
  • Ability to think beyond the obvious and connect signals across asset classes
  • Programming skills in VBA, R, or Python are a plus but not essential
  • Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail
  • Solid Microsoft Office skills
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are an advantage
  • German at minimum B1, with commitment to reach C1 within two years
