Duties and Responsibilities:

The Information Technology (IT) Administrator is a member of the Diplomatic Technology Infrastructure team. Administers IT systems ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
This involves providing Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support to customers through multiple channels, conducting system analysis and configuration management, and operating systems with a post-wide impact level. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to address complex technical issues. Assists in network security measures, conducts system audits for compliance, and educates users on information security best practices. Participation in Diplomatic Technology (DT) initiatives and fulfillment of other assigned duties round out the role, emphasizing a comprehensive approach to IT administration and support.

Qualifications and competencies we seek:

We are looking for a quick learner with great interpersonal skills, who is able to deal with a broad range of personnel in a sometimes-stressful environment:

  • Knowledge is required in the following portfolios: telecommunications infrastructure (legacy PBX, VoIP, Microsoft Teams Phone); physical network infrastructure and cabling standards; emergency radio communications; computer equipment operations management; hardware, software, and cloud-based technologies; and computer networking. Familiarity with technical systems analysis and enterprise-level IT operations is required.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and enterprise IT management tools (such as ticketing systems and network monitoring platforms). Strong technical troubleshooting skills for both physical infrastructure (cabling, MDF/IDF) and telecommunication systems. Possesses strong problem-solving and communication skills that facilitate working with people of different cultural backgrounds, language, technical knowledge, and seniority. Possess strong communication and presentation skills and understand how to tailor technical information to a non-technical audience.

  • Good working knowledge in English and German
