In this pivotal executive role, you will lead the group’s central IT organisation with more than 2,000 employees and shape the digital future of one of the largest banking groups in Central Europe. As Managing Director, you combine sound managerial judgment with the ability to inspire people, drive transformation, and deliver sustainable impact at scale.
You bring a strong business and IT mindset, see the bigger picture across complex banking and technology environments, and are deeply passionate about digital innovation as a driver of long-term value. A key part of your mission is to lead the organisation on its journey to becoming AI-native, embedding artificial intelligence across platforms, processes and ways of working in a responsible and value-driven manner.
The company serves as the central IT partner for the group’s banking entities, delivering group-wide digital solutions and providing the majority of IT services for key banking institutions within the group. In this role, you work closely with the respective entities and their management teams, actively supporting and co-shaping strategic initiatives and transformation programs that matter for the entire group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and drive a clear, high-quality business and IT strategy for the company, fully aligned with the short- and long-term objectives of the group and its subsidiaries

  • Lead and further develop the company as a high-performing IT organisation of more than 2,000 employees, ensuring operational excellence, resilience and scalability

  • Steer technological, digital and AI-driven innovation, translating market and technology trends into tangible business value for the group

  • Guide the organisation towards becoming AI native, fostering the responsible use of AI to enhance products, services, productivity and decision-making

  • Lead, inspire and develop the organisation, building a strong, diverse leadership team with a holistic, business-oriented strategic perspective and high employee engagement

  • Actively strengthen collaboration across a geographically distributed organisation (Vienna and several Central European locations)

  • Oversee all business and operational activities, ensuring consistent delivery against strategy, targets and mission

  • Make well-founded investment and portfolio decisions that support sustainable growth and resilience as well as long-term competitiveness

  • Build trusted relationships with key partners, stakeholders and shareholders, acting as a central point of contact at executive level

  • Proactively address complex challenges, analyse critical situations and implement effective solutions to support the company’s ongoing development

Key Requirements

  • Proven track record as CEO, COO or Managing Director in a fast-paced, technology-driven organisation, ideally within financial services environment

  • Extensive experience leading large, international organisations in highly competitive markets

  • Demonstrated ability to define and execute future-oriented IT, digital and AI strategies, turning vision into measurable impact

  • Strong understanding of financial institutions, business models and performance management principles

  • In-depth knowledge of corporate governance, executive decision-making and general management best practices

  • Entrepreneurial mindset combined with outstanding leadership capabilities in large-scale organisations (2,000+ employees)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, paired with clear, confident communication and executive presence

  • Proactive, structured leader with a strong focus on people, clients and technology, able to build trustful relationships across complex stakeholder landscapes

  • Proven experience as a credible, innovative and reliable C suite partner, contributing at eye level in dynamic, fast-moving organisations
