Earth Observation Data Analyst/Scientist (m/w/d)

You will work at the interface of satellite data processing, land monitoring, and spatial analysis. Embedded in a multi-disciplinary technical team, you will facilitate the operational delivery of EO-based geospatial products and services for international clients.

Your tasks

  • Execute and monitor large-area geospatial production workflows, processing multi-sensor satellite imagery across product lines to meet delivery schedules and client specifications

  • Perform visual interpretation and thematic classification of optical satellite imagery to produce and update land cover mapping products in line with Copernicus Land Monitoring Service standards

  • Develop and maintain Python codes and GDAL-based tools to automate geospatial data processing tasks within a shared version-controlled codebase

  • Integrate new processing methods and containerised workflows into operational production pipelines

  • Carry out spatial accuracy assessments and quality checks, documenting non-conformances and contributing to technical reporting for clients

Your profile

  • Proven experience with GIS tools (QGIS, ArcGIS) for spatial analysis, land cover mapping, and multi-product geospatial production workflows (advantageous)

  • Good visual interpretation skills for optical satellite imagery (Sentinel-2, VHR), including change detection and thematic classification

  • Familiarity with EO data formats (GeoTIFF) and processing tools (GDAL/OGR, rasterio), with confidence working on the command line and in Python

  • Experience with batch processing workflows and managing deliverables under operational deadlines; practical knowledge of Copernicus Land Monitoring Service advantageous

  • Ability to perform spatial accuracy assessments, document non-conformances, contribute to technical reporting, and familiarity with containerisation (Docker) and version control systems (GitLab, Bitbucket)
