Rail Cargo Carrier Kft. is a railway undertaking in Hungary and holding company for carrier activities in 14 further countries in Europe. The Managing Director reports to the COO of the parent company Rail Cargo Austria AG
The future Managing Director will take on the following tasks and responsibilities:
- International finance: Oversee and manage all international financial activities, with responsibility for financial planning, budgeting and forecasting. Supervise central billing processes and manage the calculation processes for financial planning and analysis.
- Performance Monitoring: Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance metrics across international operations. Conduct regular performance reviews and assessments. Provide feedback and guidance to subsidiary management teams.
- Operational Efficiency: Oversee the operational activities to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. Standardize processes and practices across subsidiaries where applicable. Implement best practices to optimize operations.
- Strategic Alignment/Projects: Lead and manage strategic projects to drive growth and innovation, extend and maintain the international production network of the Rail Cargo Group (RCG). Ensure that each subsidiary's goals and operations align with the parent company's overall strategy and objectives. Develop and implement strategic plans for each subsidiary.
- Leadership and Human Resources: Appoint and manage leadership teams for each subsidiary. Oversee human resource activities, including recruitment, training, and development. Foster a strong corporate culture and ensure alignment with the parent company's values.
- Governance and Compliance: Ensure the company and its subsidiaries comply with local laws and regulations. Maintain strong corporate governance practices. Implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential risks.
- Shunting activities in Hungary: Oversee business development and operations management.
- Service Development and Offer Management: Develop production concepts and cost estimates and manage the offer process of all subsidiaries.
- Digitalization: Support IT development and digitalization projects within the Rail Cargo Group.
Your profile:
- Proven experience in a senior management role, preferably within the rail freight, logistics, or transportation industry / experience in the productional or operational field of railways is an advantage
- Proven experience in optimization of production processes, preferably within the rail, logistics or transportation industry
- Strong financial acumen with experience in international finance and budget management
- Excellent leadership, strategic planning and project management skills
- Ability to monitor performance metrics and implement operational efficiencies
- Strong understanding of safety management systems and legal compliance
- Strong understanding of corporate governance, risk management, and compliance with local regulations
- Fluency in English is required, German is considered an advantage
- High level of integrity and professionalism
- Willingness to travel to various locations to oversee subsidiary operations and participate in international meetings
- Good knowledge of the rail freight market is an advantage
