Job description

During your thesis project, we expect you to become a growing expert for control of electric drives applying Wide-Bandgap-Power-Semiconductors. This means you will need to acquire some special knowledge on that topic and perform dedicated tasks:

  • Learn about possible technologies available today to drive electric motors
  • Learn about Wide Bandgap Power Semiconductors
  • Improve your skills in practical control engineering and signal processing
  • Evaluate the existing concepts for motor-control
  • Develop control concepts applying Wide Bandgap Power Semiconductors in electric motor applications
  • Implement a control methodology into one hardware demonstrator and test it
  • Evaluate and compare the new solution with existing systems
  • Document your results by writing and submitting your Master Thesis

Type of employment: Temporary / Full-time (Flexible working hours from Monday to Friday between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.)
Duration: min. 6 months

This thesis has to be written in cooperation with an university.

Profile

You are best equipped for this task if you are a student in the field of Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics or Control Engineering and if you also have:

  • Completed all of your exams
  • Knowledge and experience in power electronics, control engineering and signal processing
  • Good communication skills in English and German
  • Good organizational skills as well as motivated and self-driven

This position is subject to the collective agreement for workers and employees in the electrical and electronics industry (full-time), employment group D for master students (https://www.feei.at/leistungen/informations-service/mindestlohne-und-gehalter-2020).
