As part of the P21st Team you contribute to and actively shape the implementation and development of the corporate incubator with your expertise and skills.

Become our engineer for cloud & artificial intelligence / machine learning (AI/ML) model deployments within the IoT & Data Science Competence Team, which is part of the PALFINGER 21st Competence Center! You will contribute to PALFINGER's corporate IoT & data science architecture in collaboration with other teams revolving around the PALFINGER 21st Corporate Incubator. Together with your expert team colleagues of data engineers and data scientists, you push forward the ultimate goals to enable data-driven business models for connected machines as well as evidence-based decisions.

You are responsible for implementing & maintaining IoT cloud solutions together with our data engineers as well as the deployment & management of AI/ML models developed by our data scientists or third parties. Data-driven use cases are derived from the smart products / smart services space as well as the smart factory / operations technology space. In this vein, you collaborate with external implementation and/or research partners while consulting internal stakeholders regarding interfaces and suitable data exchange formats. In terms of corporate incubation, you are responsible for the handover of functional prototypes while coordinating the process with our corporate ICT department.

Your expertise lies within software development with a specialty in cloud engineering for IoT applications. You are familiar with IoT architectures including edge devices and dashboards along with state-of-the-art interfaces and data bases for industrial data. You like to prototype in early stages, but with the clear goal to develop productive & economic solutions in an industrialized environment.

If you possess an affinity for implementing & running IoT solutions including management of industrial data repositories, like to interact with various stakeholders and love to turn ideas into reality, then this is the just the right job for you!


  • actively shape the corporate data strategy together with your colleagues;
  • lead for operationalization / handover of functional prototypes to other PALFINGER units;
  • facilitate expertise in IoT architectures / data storage / data bases / interfaces incl. implementation / maintenance / support / cost controlling / documentation;
  • provide environments for meta-data management / data catalogs;
  • implement productive CI/CD environments for DataOps / MLOps processes incl support;
  • deployment / management / maintenance / support of AI/ML models in cloud environments;


  • min. 3 years of working experience in industrial and/or academic environment;
  • creativity & the ability to define your own goals, willingness to enable / support others;
  • university degree in informatics, computer science or similar;
  • talent for process management and handover of responsibilities;
  • understanding of software and data engineering including meta-data management;
  • proficient in Microsoft Azure Cloud technologies;
  • data quality management / (non-)relational data storages;
  • understanding of DataOps / MLOps processes;
  • optional experience with mechatronic systems;
  • optional experience with dashboard implementation via PowerBI;
  • open and communicative, willingness to learn, self-reliant;
  • willingness to travel up to 10%;

Minimum gross salary according to Austrian metal industry collective agreement is EUR 42.053,20 per year. We are willing to overpay according to training and qualification.
