Big Data Engineer (f/m/d)

Erste Group IT International (EG IT INT) is the IT service provider of Erste Group, supplying solutions to all entities. It provides development, implementation and integration as well as operation of group-wide solutions. Aimed at offering the best service at the best price, EG IT INT plays a key strategic role within Erste Group.

The origins of our department are based on a need of strong focus to business analyses that could enable our internal clients to thrive and grow, providing them with state of the art information about the trends in their client portfolio. We collect, store, process and analyze the banking data, trying to offer the optimal solutions with an impact on the market. We work with Big Data tools and frameworks but we encourage our experts to come up with innovations in tech stack.

Your Tasks

  • Selection and Integration of Big Data tools and frameworks required to provide requested capabilities
  • Taking care of transferring data from data sources and analyze it
  • Managing and support customers of the existing BigDataScienceLab in preparing and executing PoC or projects.
  • Act as a senior role in the Big Data and Data Science Community of Practice
  • Close collaborations with business and IT users in the area of BI, Data Science and DWH
  • Responsibility for creating guidelines, policies for DataEngineering activities, work with architects who are involved in the whole solution delivery process
  • Support senior management, management and employee level with their technical and strategical questions

Your Background

  • University background (BSc/MSc) in computer science and at least 3 years of experience in Data Engineering or related fields
  • 2+ years of experience working with large scale distributed frameworks (Spark and/or MapReduce)
  • Experience working with Hadoop and processing massive data and with building stream-processing systems, using solutions such as Storm or Spark-Streaming
  • Experience with integration of data from multiple data sources, NoSQL databases, such as HBase, Cassandra, etc.
  • Experience with Big Data ML toolkits, such as Mahout, SparkML or H2O, Big Data querying tools, such as Hive, and Impala
  • Knowledge of various ETL techniques and frameworks, such as Sqoop, ODI, etc.
  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving skills
  • Language skills: English full professional proficiency
