Areas that play to your strengths

(all the responsibilities we'll trust you with)

  • Development of surface solutions for our products: coating with special effects, color development etc.

Identify fundamental research areas/projects which are related to innovation strategy, evaluate projects and manage transition from fundamental research to standard packaging production.

Develop new or improve existing surface solutions for our cans, e.g. color solutions, special effects, etc.

Transfer know-how to other products (e.g. secondary packaging, coolers, etc.) and focus on being the pioneer on the market.

Set-up and lead new projects to improve technical expertise of coatings, impact of raw materials and identify possible influences on production processes.

Prepare standards and specification for products, processes, production facilities. Organize and evaluate trials and manage the handover to implementation.

Support IP Management (state-of-the art patent research, freedom to operate research) in close cooperation with related departments.

  • Management Partners and area

Actively engage with 3rd party organizations (R&D centers, universities, potential suppliers…) to develop relationships and technical programs that give advantage in the exploitation of new and emerging coating and packaging products.

Analyze and manage technical aspects of projects and determine methods and techniques to be used and principles to be applied.

Conduct benchmark analysis of our suppliers/partners and initiate actions to upgrade their performance.

  • Technology scouting: can coating, packaging, production

Identify trends, e.g. for raw materials, can coating, production, printing inks for high-speed applications, packaging, etc. Read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals.

Actively engage with market trends/standards to ensure an evaluation is completed of all new opportunities.

Your experience includes:

(proven performance in)

Minimum of 5 years of professional experience materials engineering (e.g. related to packaging industry, coating industry, etc.) or similar surface applications

Have in-depth knowledge of research and development process, experience of lab work and interface to production

Project management skills with a definite "completer / finisher" mentality

Very good knowledge in MS-Office

Team player, proactivity, strong communication skills, problem solver, work independently

Willingness to learn, work and take on responsibility in a cross-functional environment

Process orientation: holistic view of processes and tasks

An analytical mind, able to isolate key issues and plans major initiatives to minimize problems and exploit opportunities

  • Bachelor/Master's degree in chemistry, applied chemistry, materials science or strong technical related background
  • Fluent in English

Due to legal reasons we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary according to the collective agreement for this position, which is EUR 1643 gross per month. However, our attractive compensation package is based on market-oriented salaries and is therefore significantly above the stated minimum salary.
