Senior Linux System Engineer (m/w)

We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Linux Systems Engineer (m/f) to strengthen our motivated and passionate Linux Engineering team.


  • Development, enhancement, operation and service of our Linux infrastructure
  • Emphasis on performance, high availability, reliability and scalability
  • Deployment of enterprise hardware
  • Ability to research new topics and technologies
  • Design solutions which deliver sustainable and manageable results
  • Work in teams as well as individually


  • Experienced administration of Linux Operating Systems:
  • Focused on (but not only) RPM based distributions: CentOS, RHEL
  • Scripting for automation: bash and preferably one of python, ruby or perl
  • Well established fundamentals in computer science/engineering:
  • Internet protocol suite: both low-level IP, TCP, UDP but also application protocols HTTP, REST, SMTP, LDAP, SNMP
  • OSI model
  • Sound understanding of networking infrastructure, firewalling and load-balancing technologies and methods
  • System- and network security: TLS, X.509, 802.1x, PKI, AAA
  • Clustering and distributed systems
  • Administration and experience in at least some of the following areas:
  • Webservers: Apache, nginx
  • SQL databases: MySQL, MariaDB or PostgreSQL
  • noSQL databases: MongoDB, Redis
  • Proxy: Squid
  • Message brokers: ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ
  • Version-Control Systems: git, subversion
  • Mailservers: Postfix
  • Active Directory integration of Linux services via Kerberos or LDAP
  • Ideally knowledge in some of the following fields:
  • OS hardening like SElinux, Apparmor
  • Automated operation and deployment via Puppet, RHN, Spacewalk, Ansible
  • Monitoring systems: Check_MK, Nagios, Zabbix
  • Logging infrastructure: syslog/journald, Splunk, Elasticsearch (aka ELK-Stack)
  • Clustering (corosync, pacemaker) and distributed systems (zookeeper)
  • Database clustering with MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Galera
  • Cluster-filesystems (glusterfs, ceph)
  • Virtualization (KVM, Vmware) and Containers (docker, kubernetes)
  • Samba as AD integrated client
  • Very good English skills, both written and spoken
