Semiconductor products fail for multiple reasons and in all stages of their life-time. The PSI department enables service institutions to analyze the disposition of such failures. It researches their root-cause in order to understand failure mechanisms and to propose measures for prevention or improvement. We are looking for a student (f/m/div*) supporting the PSI department.

Job description

In your new role you will be responsible for supporting internal service institutions by electrical lab measurements and preparation of working material. You will closely work together with colleagues from various fields within the semiconductor world, such as design engineers, semiconductor technology experts and insider to manufacturing processes and methods. You will investigate product related single incidents as well as systematic occurrences in big volume.

Your activities will be:

  • Electrical lab measurements.
  • Commissioning of operation systems for products.
  • Bundling and transfer of documentation about products.
  • Working with members of multiple disciplines

Duration: Temporary / part-time
Starting date: 01.06.2019 (working permit for Non-EU citizens takes about 6 weeks)

This position is subject to the collective agreement for workers and employees in the electrical and electronics industry. Bachelor students receive a compensation of 1.885,-- Euro gross p.m. (Full-time basis for Bachelor students) and Master students receive a compensation of 2.210,--Euro gross p.m. (Full time basis for Master students)


You are best equipped for this task if you:

  • Study in the field of electronics, technical physics/mathematics or telematics.
  • Like working in the laboratory with electrical measurement equipment (oscilloscope, signal generators, meters …).
  • Enjoy organizing to work together with representatives from other disciplines.
  • Like to apply ideas from foreign fields to your own, respectively master out-of-the-box thinking.
  • Like challenges and riddles and are not satisfied until they are solved.
  • Have good English skills
