EBG MedAustron GmbH in Wiener Neustadt operates one of the most modern centers for particle therapy and research in Europe. Cancer patients are treated with an innovative form of radiation therapy with protons and carbon ions. In addition to cancer treatment the facility is also used for translational research.

Our AVID team is responsible for all beam instrumentation and beam interception devices of the particle accelerator. The responsibility for accelerating structures, RF systems, ion sources and vacuum installations completes the team's profile.

Beam Instrumentation Engineer (f/m/x)

full-time (40 hours weekly)

Challenges you conquer:

  • Be responsible for beam instrumentation devices in a proton/carbon particle accelerator facility, which involves:
  • Life-cycle management of components in the group's scope
  • Definition of requirements and test specifications
  • Testing and integration into the particle accelerator
  • Procurement of components and follow-up with suppliers
  • Optimization regarding accelerator reliability
  • Securing the compliance to safety standards (specially electrical and mechanical safety)
  • Contribute to developments of beam diagnostic detectors and corresponding Front/Back End Electronics
  • Design data acquisition and control electronics
  • Support and train our operation and service teams
  • Contribute to the integration and testing, which requires work outside normal business hours up to appr. 20% and on-call duty

A background that impresses:

  • Technical university degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
  • 3 or more years of demonstrated experiences in beam and/or measurement instrumentation, preferably in an accelerator facility
  • Ideally experience with life-cycle management and the application of industrial standards
  • Good knowledge of analog and digital measurement and acquisition chains
  • Proficient in Altium, Pspice or any other electronics design tool box
  • Fluent in verbal and written communication in English, German is an advantage
  • You are a problem solver and team-player with an analytical approach
  • Your flexibility and hands-on mentality complete your profile
  • Willing to fulfill work outside normal business hours and on-call support

For the advertised position we offer a gross annual salary from EUR 44.000,-- (on a full-time basis) with the possibility of overpayment, depending on professional qualifications and experience.
