Role Summary:

The Strategic Project Leader is a key strategic position responsible for developing manufacturing options and leading the operating team through the execution of major manufacturing transfer projects and capital installations. The successful candidate will be working as a critical component of the GEHC Engineering team and report through to the Global Cell Culture Engineering Function.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for partnering with the functional & business leadership teams to define transfer of work project scope, goals & resource requirements
  • Preparing project Expense budgets / Plant & Equipment requests and managing their approval through GEHC processes
  • Developing rigorous control plans; working closely with project champions, process owners, and the operating teams to provide continued leadership during the execution of major capital projects / transfers of work
  • Project Management of transfers of work in accordance with the GEHC transfer of work (PRD) methodology including:
  • Equipment selection
  • Installation, Operational & Performance qualification milestones
  • Review of cross functional activities to ensure project deliverables are met
  • Full manufacturing ramp up including co-ordination across all the functions to ensure successful delivery of the overall project
  • Management of program budgets and/or cost centers, resource allocation and planning for functional area to ensure delivery of business benefits
  • Communicating progress, status and issues to the business leaders
  • Continuously seeking out opportunities to improve GEHC policies & practices
  • Identify new manufacturing technologies for continuous improvement (quality, cost, capacity, etc.)
  • Share and institutionalize best practices
  • Role may be located in either Logan, UT, USA or Pasching, Austria.


  • Degree in Computer Science, Mechanical, Electrical or Biomedical Engineering from an accredited university
  • At least 7-10 additional years of experience in a large matrix business environment or consulting firm
  • Strong Project Management experience (i.e. demonstrated track record in delivering multiple >$1MM+, multiyear complex capital equipment installations / transfer projects)
  • Strong Pharmaceutical background and understanding of Quality requirements as they relate to manufacturing transfers and capital equipment installation and commissioning
  • Strong supply chain experience (e.g. manufacturing, distribution and order management)
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Must be willing to travel ~30% of the time
