Become the expert in data science within the PALFINGER 21st IoT & Data Science Competence Team, which is part of the PALFINGER 21st Competence Center! You will contribute to PALFINGER's corporate IoT & data science architecture in collaboration with other teams from various divisions within the PALFINGER Global Organization.

You are responsible for generating information out of data and knowledge extraction from the overall PALFINGER ecosystem: smart products / smart services, smart factory / operations technology and reporting / business intelligence. You perform requirements engineering for new tools, foster decisions between open-source or proprietary technologies and help with make-or-buy decisions. You know how to approach inverse problems, you possess expertise in descriptive, predictive & prescriptive methods and you are familiar with common processes, tools, platforms and cognitive services in data science. In this vein, you are willing to learn new skills and you collaborate with external and internal partners.

If you possess an affinity to deal with data from various sources such as sensory data of real machines or data from business processes and you love to find new solutions via an agile approach within a changing environment, this is the just the job you are looking for!

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • lead for machine data analytics processes, model building & knowledge extraction
  • facilitate expertise in data engineering / data science / mathematics / statistics
  • technology management of data analytics tools / cognitive services / SaaS platforms
  • product evaluation: open source vs. proprietary / make or buy decisions
  • definition of data processing methodology / analytical services
  • data exploration / model building & verification / feasibility studies / plausibility checks
  • application of structured data science methods such as CRISP-DM/ASUM-DM

QUALIFICATIONS

  • university degree in mathematics, physics, informatics or similar with focus on data science
  • experience with scripting languages such as R, Python/Julia and/or Java/Scala
  • experience with analytical / descriptive methods / rule engines / data visualization
  • experience with implementation / verification of predictive & prescriptive models
  • experience with application of machine learning / artificial intelligence
  • optional experience with open-source analytics tools / frameworks, such as Apache BEAM, SPARK, FLINK, etc.
  • optional experience with open-source machine learning tools /frameworks, such as TensorFlow, XGBoost, sci-kit learn, etc.
  • optional experience with commercial-off-the-shelf ML/AI frameworks, such as Microsoft Azure IoT Platform, Google Cloud Platform, AWS Analytics, IBM Watson, etc.
  • analytic thinking and willingness to learn, self-reliant

Minimum gross salary according to Austrian metal industry collective agreement is EUR 36.045,52 per year. We are willing to overpay according to training and qualification.
