Infineon offers various online simulation tools to support customers during the design-in phase of our product. Our sensor simulation tools allow the customer to compare products in application conditions. The tools are easy-to-use and will guide the user in identifying the most suitable sensor combined with the best-fit magnet.
Currently the sensor simulation tools are based on analytical formulas, which limit the simulation capability to simple models. For instance we use simplified magnetic field sources like straight conductors for current sensors or simply-shaped permanent magnets for magnetic position sensors.
The main goal of this project is to extend the existing simulation tool portfolio by adding new functionality. Within this work you will investigate different modelling concepts like replacing the analytical calculation backbone by a FEM solver or calculating simulation results via interpolation from pre-defined solutions. This approach will enable the modelling of more complex magnetic field sources and will also allow to consider parasitic effects of ferromagnetic parts in the vicinity of the sensor system.
You will develop and setup 3D FEM models in an open source environment and benchmark your solution against the full-blown solution from the commercial FEM solver ANSYS Maxwell 3D. Additionally you need to derive a concept for integrating the enhanced calculation methodology into the Python simulation framework.
The improved simulation tool will be published on the Infineon website and enables our customers to the next level of simulation and modelling.
This position is subject to the collective agreement for workers and employees in the electrical and electronics industry. The salary for this position is 1.825,-- Euro gross p.m. (full- time basis) for Master students.
