Business Systems Data Analyst, INSIGHT.

WWF launched a new strategy that harnesses the strengths of the WWF network in a shared vision, focussing on six major goals - water, wildlife, the ocean, climate and energy, forests, and food - and three key drivers of environmental problems - markets, finance and governance.

In support of this strategy WWF undertook a redesign of its international secretariat that will further unite WWF offices and its near 6,400 staff around the world. This will help WWF to build stronger partnerships across the world with government, business, civil society and individuals. Together, we will deliver on WWF's ambitious goals.

We are currently looking for a Business Systems Analyst to be the 'client' face of these systems to the various business/team leaders in order to provide a deeper understanding of the business and requirements both from the teams as well as training, support, and delivery to the teams.

Location:

WWF International in Vienna.

Remuneration:

Between EUR39,000 - EUR 41,000 gross per year, based on full-time employment.

Mission of the Department:

To provide WWF with a technology and communication platform that is robust, fully supported, secure and available on any device. To proactively partner and generate ideas with the organization to develop and evolve the platform so as to support and drive delivery of network objectives by optimizing existing tools and integrate them with new and innovative solutions. The INSIGHT team provides a global set of systems, databases, and reporting that is used for project/programmes, partnerships, financial management, as well as other functions across the global WWF Network. This team delivers on the management, development, and support to the whole Network.

The Role:

Help the development of new features and integration pieces as well as help manage and ensure the day-to-day running of the INSIGHT system. This is a very user focused position with the majority of time spent in understanding user requirements and translating them into technical specifications for the development team.

Main responsibilities:

Review, analyse and evaluate business systems and user needs. Document requirements, define scope and objectives and formulate systems to parallel overall business strategies. Familiar with relational database concepts and client-server concepts. Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. In detail:

  • Ensure the day-to-day running of the INSIGHT Integration system.
  • Help design and write functional and technical system specifications.
  • Determine operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information; evaluating output requirements and formats
  • Construct workflow charts and diagrams; studying system capabilities; writing specifications
  • Improve systems by studying current practices; designing modifications
  • Recommend controls by identifying problems; writing improved procedures
  • Define project requirements by identifying project milestones, phases and elements; forming project team; establishing project budget
  • Monitor project progress by tracking activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions
  • Maintain user confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential
  • Prepare technical reports by collecting, analysing and summarizing information and trends
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Take business requirements translating them to specific software and reporting requirements.
  • Challenge current business processes and make suggestions for improvement; Put together well thought-through business cases for issue resolution/analysis.
  • Manage system support and maintenance in collaboration with the larger Global ICT team and define required procedures.
  • Manage user acceptance testing of new applications and reports; coordinate with technical resources for any migration of data into the new application database.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Competencies

  • Studies in Business, Information Technology, or Systems
  • 5 years relevant experience, particularly working with MS Office tools as well as various project management tools
  • Experience with report writing tools
  • Relational database and SQL is a plus
  • Experience with a report writing tool (Tableau is an advantage) and a general knowledge of SQL
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills; diplomacy and tact;
  • Customer focus; excellent communicator facilitating discussions and summarizing conclusions;
  • Able to help users rationalize and simplify manual work processes before applying automated solutions;
  • Methodical and well organized, with a proven ability direct and coordinate team efforts to achieve assigned objectives within budgetary and time restraints;
  • Ability to impact operations and effect change without being confrontational
  • Detail oriented, analytical and inquisitive
  • Ability to work independently and with others.
  • Fluency in English required, fluency in other languages will be seen as very beneficial;

Working Relationships:

Internal - Works closely with members of the Finance, Network Standards, Project Finance, and Programme teams representing the users and the IT staff, both at WWF International and in other Network offices External - Frequent contact with software vendor and consultants.
