Programme Planning Advisor (f/m)

Location: International Office Innsbruck/Austria

Mission

The Programme Planning (PP) Team reviews and prioritises proposals for investments in SOS programmes and thereby ensures quality standards are followed and that investments are geared towards areas of high need. As part of this team the position holder will provide operational guidance to other members who are reviewing individual programme planning documents (currently 4 co-workers). This includes planning and prioritising operational activities and performing selective quality checks. Additionally the position holder will track programme planning activities, provide regular reports and perform quantitative analyses in order to respond to specific information requests of the management. The position holder also serves as deputy for Team Leader Programme Planning.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Provide operational guidance to the PP team members who are responsible for reviewing individual programme planning documents:
  • Plan and prioritise operational activities of the sub-team (e.g., weekly work plan)
  • Serve as a first point of contact for sub-team members to clarify operative issues regarding processes and tools
  • Perform selective quality checks on validations and data entries
  • As required: Develop skills of team members regarding data analytics
  • Serve as point of contact for programme planning counterparts in the regional offices and conduct regular team calls with regional colleagues
  • Track programme planning and provide regular reports (e.g., regarding funding status, implementation progress, realization of target achievement)
  • Conduct quantitative analysis on activities in order to respond to information requests by senior management
  • Serve as point of contact for PP counterparts in Promoting and Supporting Association (PSA) and provide status updates on projects in the respective PSA portfolio
  • Support revision of processes, systems and tools in order to increase efficiency and accuracy of planning
  • As required conduct training and capacity building measures for regional office or national association colleagues
  • Serve as deputy for Team Leader PP

Requirements:

  • Master degree in a relevant discipline such as Economics or Non-profit Management, or a Bachelor Degree with additional experience in the subject area
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience in driving processes and monitoring projects
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English; French/Spanish or German is an advantage
  • Advanced quantitative analytical skills inclusive Excel
  • Ability to work independently and to proactively escalate emerging issues early on
  • Virtual collaboration skills to communicate across different cultures
  • Experience in facilitating workshops would be desirable
  • Willingness to travel internationally (2-3 project travels per year)
  • Applicants must hold a valid Austrian working permit or be eligible to work within the EU
