Job Description

As senior product manager (m/f) your responsibilities are manifold: Besides leading product & life-cycle management you will manage projects in market research, competitive analysis, and general marketing. You will also work closely with the sales department for training and support and represent the company in standardization bodies and trade publications.

Product Management

  • Coordinate product and feature development; collaborate with a wide variety of functional areas such as sales, engineering, and operations in the new product develop process to provide products that are responsive to customer needs and market opportunities;
  • Business Case: Estimate of potential profits, and the forecast of 5 years sales projections;
  • Specifications: Develop specifications as required; suggest development of accessories and features, if appropriate; edit feature, function and specification requirement list in cooperation with other areas;
  • Submit business proposal (4-blocker) for management approval;
  • Upon approval, involve closely with engineering throughout product development; manage the day to day progress of all new product releases; control compliance with specifications and suggest corrective actions and modifications, if required;
  • Timeline: Manage timelines throughout product development and suggest corrective actions and alternatives, if (engineering) timelines cannot be met
  • Product life-cycle management of product line
  • Collaborate with business unit and key division personnel on Development, marketing and product management projects

Market Research & Competitive Analysis

  • Perform detailed market research, as required;
  • Closely watch market development to provide input and guidance for new product development
  • VOC: Responsible for all Voice of Customer marketing initiatives
  • Testing: Responsible for pre-launch beta testing
  • Maintain competitive information and develop strategy to promote advantages and capitalize on competitors' weaknesses; identify and exploit competitive weaknesses (e.g. through sales arguments);
  • Develop competitive comparisons; develop price/cost comparisons for products;

Sales, Training & Support

  • Work with the Sales Department to ensure all sales targets are achieved for assigned products and provide support where needed;
  • Identify the need and suggest recommendations regarding sales channel expansion and/or improvement;
  • Recommend possible corrective action plans to the sales department, when product sales are below target;
  • Serve as the technical and application specialist for an assigned product line and interfaces daily with the sales channel;
  • Provide expertise and training in support of product development and release to market;
  • Responsible for facilitating the resolution of all technical and application issues for assigned products


  • Lead, manage and develop Marketing Communication
  • Responsible for product launch/launch packages and product marketing/positioning/pricing; develop presentations and sales tools to better sell the company's products
  • Oversee the budget marketing plan for yearly and long term global marketing strategy; responsible for development and implementation of sales & marketing plans for assigned products
  • Guide and assist the marketing specialist to ensure proper product promotion; maintain regular contact with all global sales representatives regarding product promotion; spend sufficient time in the field working with representatives promoting products intended for target applications and/or key account penetration

Other responsibilities

  • Responsible for product documentation (manuals), operation instructions, videos and other documentation / instructions;
  • Write articles for trade magazine publications;
  • Write and present technical papers for trade shows and seminars, as required;
  • When appropriate, write new application bulletins and white papers;
  • Work with standardization bodies (ASTM, EN,…) to facilitate market penetration of company products and methods
  • Be on the forefront of future regulation and standardization initiatives to ensure timely product adaptions or new product development

The Successful Applicant

  • You have a background in chemistry and/or measuring technology either through education or experience
  • You can show a strong practical track record in product management
  • Ideally, you have experience in project management
  • You are fluent in English, knowledge of German and/or other languages is a plus
  • You are a strong communicator and a team player
